India's E-Waste Surge: 14 Lakh MT Generated in 2025-26, 9.79 Lakh MT Recycled

•India generated over 14 lakh metric tonnes of e-waste in 2025-26, with 9.79 lakh metric tonnes recycled.
•Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh shared this data in Lok Sabha, citing Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) statistics.
•E-waste generation has steadily increased, from 12.54 lakh MT in 2023-24 to 14.14 lakh MT in 2025-26.
•The E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, mandate CPCB assessment based on 106 notified electrical and electronic equipment.
•These rules establish an improved Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regime, facilitating the informal sector into formal, environmentally sound recycling.
