India's E-Waste Surge: 14 Lakh MT Generated in 2025-26, 9.79 Lakh MT Recycled

India generated over 14 lakh metric tonnes of e-waste in 2025-26, with 9.79 lakh metric tonnes recycled.

Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh shared this data in Lok Sabha, citing Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) statistics.
•
E-waste generation has steadily increased, from 12.54 lakh MT in 2023-24 to 14.14 lakh MT in 2025-26.
•
The E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, mandate CPCB assessment based on 106 notified electrical and electronic equipment.
•
These rules establish an improved Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regime, facilitating the informal sector into formal, environmentally sound recycling.
