•High cholesterol is rising due to poor lifestyle, unhealthy foods, and lack of physical activity, increasing heart attack and stroke risk.
•Dietitian Kamini Sinha of Diet Mantra Clinic, Noida, warns that many commonly eaten foods are full of unhealthy fats, acting as slow poison for the heart.
•Avoid processed meats (sausages, bacon) and red meat due to high sodium, saturated fat, and plaque buildup; opt for lean proteins like fish or chicken.
•Stay away from trans fat-rich fried foods (French fries, samosas, kachoris, pakoras) as repeated oil heating and trans fats rapidly increase bad cholesterol.
•Limit bakery products (cookies, cakes, pastries, white bread), full-fat dairy, and packaged snacks (chips, instant noodles) which contain harmful fats, refined sugar, maida, and preservatives that elevate cholesterol and heart disease risk.
