Wife Imprisoned in Bangladesh Returns After 2 Years; Husband Overwhelmed, Village Celebrates

• Phalguni Roy, an Indian citizen from Boaldah village, Bongaon, returned home after nearly two years of imprisonment in Bangladesh.
• She went to Bangladesh in 2023 to search for her child from a previous marriage, where her first husband allegedly snatched her passport and threatened her.
• Lacking valid documents, she was handed over to Bangladesh Police and imprisoned, despite seeking help from Bangladesh Border Guard.
• Her current husband, Prasenjit Chowdhury, pursued her release, filing complaints and appealing to Indian authorities and Bangladesh courts.
• With administrative cooperation from both countries, Phalguni returned, leading to a grand remarriage by neighbors and village-wide celebration.
